Thoughts on the new food carts in Toronto

For those of us living in Toronto, we are already fully aware of the diversity that surrounds us. City Hall is trying to capture that diversity, or at least represent its citizens, through culinary inspiration in the form of the street cart. Right now there are food vendors in place to sell Korean, Persian, Greek, and Caribbean street fare, just to name a few.

The question remains however: how does this help Torontonians eat healthier? The replacement of the hot dog with traditional ethnic foods is great for diversity, but as the National post article stated yesterday " a dumpling that is fried is no healthier than a french fry" - so where does that leave us?

Are you encouraged by the new food cart additions (they sound delicious to me to be frank - no pun intended!). Should healthier lifestyle options be introduced as well? Or is that not the point of street food? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
